Our board, committee members and friends who work with us:

• Make no-interest loans and occasional grants to people facing housing emergencies (our Save Our Homes program).
• Together with others, manage ‘Helpfund’, a program we developed to help people with other kinds of financial emergency.
• Manage for the Town of Brattleboro a low-interest loan program we developed to help landlords make basic repairs or improvements (the Rental Housing Improvement Program).
• Help hard-pressed homeowners who have under-used space create a modest apartment (our Apartments-in-Homes program).
• Work with employers interested in developing an employer assisted housing program.
• Usually in collaboration with others, advocate with the town and state for better housing policies.
• Work to inform the public about housing needs and issues.
• When there’s no one else, do manual work to meet a need of a homeowner or tenant.
• Look for other ways to help make decent housing available to low- and moderate-income people.

What we don’t do

• build or own any housing.
• find apartments for people.
• duplicate any of the wonderful work done by other housing organizations in our area.

Who we serve

• Save Our Homes program: any renter or homeowner in Windham County, VT or in Hinsdale or West Chesterfield, NH.
• Apartments-in-Homes program: when funds are available, any single-family homeowner in Brattleboro or other towns in the eastern part of Windham County.
• Rental Housing Improvement program: any landlord with Brattleboro property or any homeowner becoming a landlord in the Apartments-in-Homes program.
